Introduction to Tamil Sentences

Now that you've learned to read simple words, it's time to put them together into basic sentences. Tamil sentences follow a Subject-Object-Verb (SOV) structure, which is different from English. In this lesson, we'll introduce you to simple Tamil sentences and their structure.

Basic Sentence Structure

In Tamil, the basic sentence structure is:

Subject + Object + Verb

For example, "I eat rice" in Tamil would be structured as "I rice eat".

  • Pronouns change based on gender and number (e.g., அவன் (avan) for "he", அவள் (aval) for "she").
  • Verbs change their ending based on the subject (e.g., சாப்பிடுகிறேன் (saapidukiren) for "I eat", சாப்பிடுகிறாள் (saapidukiraal) for "she eats").
  • Practice reading sentences aloud to improve your pronunciation and fluency.
