Let's start with key words and phrases for expressing likes and dislikes:

a. Expressing Likes

To say you like something, use the following structure:

Object + எனக்கு பிடிக்கும் (enakku pidikkum) - I like [object]

Examples:

• காபி எனக்கு பிடிக்கும். (Kāpi enakku pidikkum.) - I like coffee.
• பாடல்கள் எனக்கு பிடிக்கும். (Pādalkal enakku pidikkum.) - I like songs.

b. Expressing Dislikes

To express dislike, use:

Object + எனக்கு பிடிக்காது (enakku pidikkādu) - I don't like [object]

Examples:

• மீன் எனக்கு பிடிக்காது. (Mīn enakku pidikkādu.) - I don't like fish.
• வேகமாக ஓட்டுவது எனக்கு பிடிக்காது. (Vēkamāka ōttuvadu enakku pidikkādu.) - I don't like driving fast.

To compare preferences, use the following structure:

Object A-ஐ விட Object B எனக்கु பிடிக்கும் (Object A-ai vida Object B enakku pidikkum) - I like Object B more than Object A

Examples:

• தேநீரை விட காபி எனக்கு பிடிக்கும். (Thēnīrai vida kāpi enakku pidikkum.) - I like coffee more than tea.
• சினிமாவை விட புத்தகங்கள் எனக்கு பிடிக்கும். (Cinimāvai vida puttakangaL enakku pidikkum.) - I like books more than movies.
